This weekend I went to the furniture store and sat on lots of different chairs and beds. While I was sitting on one of the chairs, a rainbow appeared across my lap. This made me think of physics. We just learned about refraction. The white light coming in from the windows refracted on the cut edges of the glass. Dispersion occurred which is refraction that causes light to separate into its different wave lengths. This is why the rainbow appeared. It was really pretty.
On the drive back home there was another rainbow but in the sky. I was able to see the rainbow because the sun was behind me and the raindrops were infront. The rainbow in the sky was also caused by dispersion. The light enters the raindrops then refraction and total internal reflection causes the colors to refract in different angles. I don't think that i took a very good picture because you can barely see the rainbow.

Mirrors
After we went to the fair on Saturday, my friends and I rode the bus to Ala Moana. We walked around and ate dinner at Genki Sushi. And since my friend new one of the workers, our dinner was super cheap. It was awesome. After we walked to Nordstrom. In Nordstrom there was a big mirror. It made me think of a concept in physics. A planar mirror is a flat mirror that reflects light. The image in the mirror is the same size as we are and are equally far from the mirror. We appear behind the mirror. The mirror has a front-back reversal which means we are facing in opposite directions. The image of us appears right side up in the mirror.
Later, we left Ala Moana and went back to the fair to watch the talent show. It was pretty good. I'm sad because it is probably the last Family Fair I am going to go to since i am going to college.

Space Needle
Over spring break i went to Seattle. It was super dooper cold but it was nice. I visited Seattle University and ate at lots of good restaurants. I got really fat hehe but the food was really good. One of the restaurants we ate at was called Sky City which was at the top of the Space Needle. It was a rotating restaurant. This made me think of a concept we learned in physics. The restaurant is moving in a uniform circular motion which is movement in a circle at constant speed. When an object is moving in the circle, it has constant speed but the velocity chagnes. Centripetal acceleration is acceleration due to change in direction in circular motion. It is pointed toward the center of the restaurant and has a constant magnitude. Centripetal acceleration depends on speed and the radius of the circle. The restaurant was really nice but after I returned from the bathroom I would get really confuzed because the table I was at moved.

Santa Claus
Today while I was walking to the kitchen to get some water, I noticed a picture on the table with my baby cousin Erica and Santa Clause. Then I saw that the things that was holding the picture up were magnets. A magnet is an object that creates a magnetic field and exerts a magnetic force. Magnets contain two opposite poles known as north and south pole. The opposite poles attract. This is how the picture is able to stand up between the two objects. The two objects have opposite poles which cause them to attract to one another. However, if they were the same poles, they would not attract. Like poles repel each other. Even though it seems that both magnets have only one pole, they do not. Magnets always have both a south and north pole. Their other poles are on the opposite side of the magnet which is glued to the glass object.

boom boom die
A couple years ago I spent New Years in LA with my mom's side of the family. There we watched that Japanese Red and White Festival show and ate a lot of good food. It was pretty cold there. A lot colder than Hawaii. During that evening, we did not have many fireworks to play with outside. We only had lame ones like sparklers or these small guns that shot out confetti. The guns we shot when it was midnight represent something we learned in physics. Newton's third law says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The confetti that comes out of the gun pushes back from the gun and the gun pushes the confetti out of the gun when the trigger is pulled. The confetti that flies out of the gun falls in a projectile motion. That New Year's Eve was the quietest one I ever had. Usually at my aunty's house we have those big long firecracker chains (I don't know what they are called) and a lot of other ones. They make a lot of noise and are super smokey.

I'm Hungry
Today I was thinking about what I was going to do this summer even though it is very far away from now. I usually go to LA to visit my mom's side of the family. However, this year I am not sure that I will be able to see them for very long since I am graduating this year. I will probably want to spend time with my friends till we have to leave for our different colleges. Last summer in LA my family celebrated my mom's and my cousin Steven's birthday. I was looking at the pictures of summer and saw the cake my aunty made for them. The candles on the delicious strawberry cake reminded me of electric fields which we learned about in physics. Electric fields are forces you cannot see and they have no boundaries. The closer you are to it the stronger it is and the further away you are from it the weaker it is. The heat surrounding the fire on the candle grows stronger when you get close to it and weaker when you get further from it. I wish I could eat this cake now...T__T.

Oklahoma
In Oklahoma, there was a girl's national wrestling tournament. The trip was only for a couple days. It was both fun and tiring. We got to go to a lot of different restaurants that Hawaii does not have. One that was really good was Olive Garden. There were a lot of crazy strong girls in the tournament. Some of them looked pretty scary. I got killed. We left Oklahoma for the airport really early in the morning and we were all very sleepy. The picture taken of my friend was taken while the car was making a turn. This reminded me of a concept we learned in physics. Caitlin is experiencing a centrifugal force. A centrifugal force is a feeling of an outward force or lack of a centripetal force. It is the natural tendency to go straight. Centrifugal means center fleeing whereas centripetal means center seeing. A centrifugal force is just as strong as a centripetal force.
